Convert OBJ to DAE Online, Free

Drop in your OBJ file and get back DAE (Collada) in seconds. OBJ is a plain-text mesh format that keeps its materials and textures in separate .mtl and image files; Titan handles the conversion and keeps textures/materials wherever DAE (Collada) supports them.

Free 30-day trial, no credit card and no account. Runs on Windows 10 and 11.

Convert OBJ to DAE, Free

Choose a 3D model and convert it. If your model has textures (an OBJ with a .mtl and image files), zip them together before uploading so the materials carry across. A lone .glb, .stl, .ply or .3mf does not need this. 30 free conversions/day.

Cannot see FBX or 3DS above? Titan reads them as input, but there is no reliable open way to write them back out. Convert FBX and 3DS files into any format on the left instead.

How to do it in 3 simple steps.

No account, no watermark. Textures and materials come along for the ride wherever the target format supports them.

1

Add your model

Drop a GLB, OBJ, glTF, STL, PLY, 3MF, DAE, FBX or 3DS file. If your OBJ or DAE has a texture, zip the model with its .mtl and image files first so materials survive the upload.

2

Choose an output format

Pick GLB, OBJ, glTF, STL, PLY, 3MF or DAE as your target format.

3

Convert

Click Convert Now. Titan preserves textures/materials wherever the target format supports them. If the output needs sidecar files (OBJ, glTF, DAE), you'll get a ZIP.

Works with every major format.

Titan Converter handles the 3D formats you are likely to run into, and adds more with every update.

Input: what you have
GLBOBJglTFSTLPLY3MFDAEFBX3DS
Output: what you get
GLBOBJglTFSTLPLY3MFDAE

FBX and 3DS can be read but not written, because the only reliable writer is Autodesk's own SDK. You can convert them into any of the seven output formats above, just not back into FBX or 3DS.

Every Common 3D Format

Covers the formats web, game and 3D-printing pipelines actually use: GLB, OBJ, glTF, STL, PLY, 3MF and DAE.

Textures & Materials Kept

PBR materials and textures survive the round trip wherever the target format supports them.

Handles Multi-File Formats

OBJ, glTF and DAE need sidecar files (.mtl, .bin, textures), so Titan zips them up automatically and nothing gets lost.

Reads FBX & 3DS Too

Import from FBX or 3DS and convert to any of the seven output formats, even though we can't write those two back out.

Common questions answered.

Drop your OBJ file into the converter above — DAE is already selected as the output format. Click Convert Now and download the result. Since OBJ keeps materials in separate files, zip your .obj together with its sidecar files before uploading to keep them.
DAE references textures as external files, so a ZIP comes back with everything bundled together.
Input and output: GLB, OBJ, glTF, STL, PLY, 3MF and DAE. FBX and 3DS can be read as input but not written as output, since there is no reliable open-source writer for either format.
An .obj file only stores geometry. Its materials and texture images live in separate .mtl and image files next to it. If you upload just the .obj alone, you'll still get a valid conversion, just without textures. Zip the .obj with its .mtl and textures together to keep them.
Only when the conversion had to go through our server — OBJ, glTF and DAE can split materials and textures into separate files there, so we bundle everything into one ZIP for you to extract. When your conversion runs entirely in your browser (the common case for GLB/GLTF/OBJ/STL/PLY, with no upload at all), glTF and OBJ come back as a single self-contained file instead — textures embedded right in. GLB, STL, PLY and 3MF are always single-file formats either way.
Yes, as input. Upload an .fbx or .3ds file and convert it to GLB, OBJ, glTF, STL, PLY, 3MF or DAE. We cannot convert other formats into FBX or 3DS, since writing those correctly requires Autodesk's proprietary SDK.
Free online conversions are capped at 500MB per file and 30 conversions/day. 3D model conversion currently runs online only, and offline desktop support is coming soon.
