How to work with archives in 3 steps.

No internet. No upload. No watermark. Everything runs locally in your browser tab.

1

Choose a mode

Extract an existing archive, create a new one from your files, or convert one archive format into another.

2

Add your files or archive

Drag and drop files, a folder or an archive: ZIP, TAR, 7Z, BZIP2, XZ, RAR and more.

3

Run it inside your browser tab

Click the action button. Processing happens right in your browser tab. No upload, no watermark, saved instantly.

Real support: not just renamed files.

Titan Converter is upfront about what actually works. Formats marked "coming soon" are not offered as options in the tool above, and a conversion always repacks the contents rather than swapping the file extension.

Extract, create and convert, fully supported today right in your browser
ZIPTARTAR.GZTGZ7-ZipBZIP2TAR.BZ2XZTAR.XZ
Compress and decompress a single file, in your browser
GZIP (.gz)LZMA (decompress only).Z (decompress only)
Zstandard: decompress in your browser, compress on our server
ZSTTAR.ZST

Reading .zst/.tar.zst never leaves your browser. Creating one needs a heavier encoder than we are willing to ship into a browser tab, so that single step runs on our server. Your original files are deleted immediately after.

Extract only, because no safe creation path exists for these
RAR (in browser)ISO (on server)CAB (on server)CPIO (on server)LZH / LHA (on server)

RAR's compression format is proprietary, so no encoder exists that we can license responsibly, and extraction is the only option. ISO, CAB, CPIO and LZH have no reliable open-source writer either, and reading them needs a library too heavy for a browser tab, so those four extract on our server. Your file is deleted the moment the result is ready.

Not supported (no library we trust exists, client or server)
WIMARJ

We looked. There is no well-maintained open-source reader or writer for either format that we are comfortable shipping, so rather than wire up something flaky we are leaving these off the list.

Built for real users.

No subscriptions. No cloud. No limits on what you can do.

Private By Design

Archives are read and written entirely in your browser tab, so nothing is uploaded to a server.

Path-Traversal Safe

Every archive entry is validated before extraction. Malicious paths like ../../file are blocked automatically.

Real Conversion

Converting between archive formats fully unpacks and repacks the contents.

Fast & Responsive

Large archives process in the background so the page never freezes, with a live progress bar and cancel button.

Common questions answered.

Convert Archive mode is already selected above. Drop your TAR.XZ file in — ZIP is already selected as the output. Click Convert Archive and download the result once it finishes, all locally in your browser tab.
TAR.XZ is a TAR archive compressed with xz/LZMA2, generally the best compression ratio of the common Linux tarball formats. ZIP is the most widely compatible archive format, opening on virtually every device and OS without extra software, which is usually why people convert to it.
You can create ZIP, TAR, TAR.GZ (TGZ), GZIP, 7-Zip, BZIP2, TAR.BZ2, XZ and TAR.XZ archives directly in your browser, with nothing uploaded. Zstandard (.zst / .tar.zst) creation is the one exception: it runs on our server since a safe browser-side encoder doesn't exist yet, and your files are deleted immediately after. LZMA can be extracted but not created \u2014 7-Zip's own command-line tool has no standalone LZMA writer. RAR and a few legacy formats (WIM, ARJ) aren't offered for creation anywhere, since no format-safe encoder exists for them at all.
Yes. RAR extraction runs entirely in your browser. RAR creation is not offered anywhere in Titan Converter, since the format is proprietary and not something we can license and re-implement responsibly.
Almost everything runs locally in your browser tab and never touches our servers. Two exceptions, and Titan tells you up front whenever one applies: creating a Zstandard (.zst / .tar.zst) archive, and extracting ISO, CAB, CPIO, or LZH/LHA files. Both need a heavier engine than we are willing to load into a browser tab. In those cases your file is uploaded, processed, and deleted immediately after you download the result, it's never stored, inspected, or shared.
No. Extraction, creation, and conversion all happen locally in your browser tab. Your files never leave your device.
Titan validates every entry path before extraction and blocks anything that tries to write outside the destination, including path traversal (../) and absolute paths. As always, only extract archives from sources you trust.
Yes. Use the Convert Archive mode. Titan fully extracts the source archive and repacks its contents into the target format.
Titan detects password-protected ZIP archives and shows a password field. Full decryption of encrypted ZIPs is not available in the browser tool yet, and support is planned for a future update.
You're limited by your device's memory rather than a fixed cap, though very large archives may take longer. For huge batch jobs, the free desktop app has no size limit and works fully offline.
