Fast mode usually takes under a minute and Balanced takes 1 to 3 minutes. Best Quality and Maximum Quality take longer on the free plan, especially on large files, so you see an estimated time before you start. Those modes ask for an email address and send you the download link the moment it is ready, so there is no need to keep the tab open.
