How a location QR code works

A location QR code stores a Google Maps link. When someone scans it, their phone opens the place in Google Maps or in the browser, and they can tap for directions from where they are. If you type an address or name, the link searches for it. If you enter coordinates, it drops a pin at that exact point.

For the most precise result, use coordinates or open the place in Google Maps and paste its link. A plain address can match more than one place if it is incomplete, so include the city and country. Because the link is stored in the code, it never expires and works as long as Google Maps does.

Common questions answered.

A street address, a place or business name, GPS coordinates, or a link you copied from Google Maps. The code opens that place in a maps app.
In Google Maps, press and hold on the spot and the coordinates appear. Copy them into the box, for example 51.5237, -0.1585.
It is a Google Maps link, so it opens in Google Maps if the app is installed and in the browser otherwise. People can usually switch to their preferred app from there.
An address that is incomplete or shared by several places can match something else. Add the city and country, or use coordinates or a copied Maps link for an exact pin.
No. The link is stored in the pattern, so the code does not depend on this site.
