3

Download and test

Save an SVG for printing or a PNG for email signatures, then scan it to see the contact appear on your phone.

What a vCard QR code is

A vCard is the standard file format for contact cards. A vCard QR code stores that contact card inside the pattern. When someone scans it, their phone shows your name, numbers and email and offers to save you as a contact. Both iPhone and most Android cameras and scanner apps support this.

Because all the details sit inside the code, it works without the internet and never expires. The flip side is that every extra field makes the pattern denser. For a business card, a name, one phone number, an email, a company and a website is plenty, and it keeps the code easy to scan at a small size. If anything changes, make a new code.

Where contact QR codes help

Printed business cards

Add a code to the back so people save your details instead of typing them.

Email signatures

Drop in a PNG of your contact code so recipients can add you in a tap from a phone.

Trade shows and conferences

Put a code on a badge, banner or table sign for quick contact swaps.

Real estate and sales signs

A code on a yard sign or a flyer lets people save the agent's number on the spot.

Staff name tags

Give each team member a personal contact code for events and visits.

Common questions answered.

A vCard QR code carries a contact card. Scanning offers to save a person to the address book. A normal URL QR code just opens a web page.
First and last name, company, job title, mobile and work phone, email, website, street address, city, state, postal code, country and a short note. Only the fields you fill in are included.
Yes. iPhones offer to add the contact when the camera scans the code. Most Android cameras and scanner apps do the same. Test with your own phone first.
Every field adds data. Remove the address and note, or shorten long fields, and the pattern becomes simpler and easier to scan at a small size.
A static vCard code cannot be edited, because the details are part of the pattern. Make a new code and replace the old one when something changes.
No. The code is generated in your browser and the details never leave your device.
