How an SMS QR code works

An SMS QR code holds a phone number and an optional message. Scanning it opens the messaging app with a new text addressed to that number, and the message already typed in. The person then presses send. That makes it ideal for keywords, quick replies and sign-up texts.

Support for SMS codes is good but not identical on every phone, so test the code with an iPhone and an Android phone before you print it. If you need a code that works everywhere, a call code or a WhatsApp link may suit better. Because the content sits inside the code, it never expires.
